Give Life a Chance

Africa’s children are dying. By the millions, their lives are taken by malaria. Children five and under with no time to develop immunity have by far the highest mortality rate. Malaria kills one child every 45 seconds.

AFA’s leaders have seen vulnerable children die excruciating deaths begun by the bite of one small mosquito. AFA was formed to be a strong voice in the Global War Against Malaria – the voice of better care NOW for these children.

AFA has a unique niche in this fight. We provide care to those children who are already sick with this killer disease. We are especially concerned with

children 5 and under whose constant deaths erode the ability of Africans to make social shifts and take real steps away from poverty.

AFA provides basic equipment like microscopes and autoclaves to non-governmental hospitals, clinics and care centers that treat a population of children five and younger. AFA also considers special requests when your gifts make that possible.

We know that through our collective efforts as Ambassadors for Africa, we can make change. The more we do, the more children we save. The more we do, the greater the hope we bring to mothers,

children, families and communities.

With increased care, more children will live to be educated. And the greatness of some of these children will be realized as they become progressive leaders, doctors, nurses, artists, musicians, engineers, teachers, statesmen, journalists, clergy and a host of other much needed professionals.

AFA is an essential piece of the equation saving the lives of Africa's youngest and most vulnerable. We hope you will stand with us against this scourge by becoming an Ambassador to Africa. With your help, lives will be saved and larger battles begun.

Five-year old angel faced Janet had an infectious smile and laughter that brought everyone pure joy. Despite getting to a rural health center, she died of malaria. Now her lifeless body lay on a cheap makeshift bamboo coffin -- her famous smile replaced by a quizzical and shrunken visage as if asking, "Why have you betrayed me?"
